About the Elite Ladies!

team photo fall 2009

The GSC Elite U-16 Ladies is a highly competitive Division 4 team within the Washington Area Girls Soccer League
with a coaching philosophy of positive motivation and maximum player effort with emphasis on individual player development.

The Elite coaches are Coach David Zatt and Assistant Coach Jerry Watson
with physical training by Conditioning Coach Dennis Walters.  The team manager is Pam Sigda.  The team trains year round (both indoor and outdoor) and competes in two to three tournaments each season.

These talented athletes, while fully committed to the team, are also involved in other sports and activities outside of soccer,
so the coaches are sensitive to players who need to balance their schedules.

Headlines and Results - Matches & Tournaments

November 8th, 2009 - The season finale doesn't go our way as the Elite, unable to cash in on opportunities, continue to find playing away from home turf a problem, coming up a goal short against the Great Falls Extreme 1-2.  Still, our girls still finish another winning season as one of the top three teams within the division!  Great job Ladies!

October 25th, 2009 - Traveling to Bowie, the BSU Starz are no match for a well-oiled Gunston machine as the Elite convincingly rolled to an 11-0 victory and climbed to 2nd place in the division!

October 24th, 2009 - Perfect at home!  Victorious on their own turf for a fourth straight match, our defense maintains the rock solid home record by shutting out the Annandale Fury 1-0, allowing only one goal on home turf this entire season.  Way to go, defense!

October 18th, 2009 - The Elite make their mark on the first place Arlington Intensity Red, winning 2-1, in a great match featuring a lot of strong offense and defense for both squads.  To date, Gunston is the only team in the division to have scored on the Intensity, having done so in both of matches against them this season (see also 9/26/09 entry below) and the only team to defeat them.  Way to go, Ladies!

October 10th & 11th, 2009 - The Elite Ladies run their bracket in the NVSC Fall Classic tourney, allowing no goals, while scoring seven, to reach the championship match, but fall to a strong PWSI team in the final.

October 4th, 2009 - Traveling to Loudoun County to face the ASC Galaxy with a depleted squad, the offense can't quite get it between the crossbars and one opposition goal ends up being the difference, 0-1

October 3rd, 2009 - The Elite continue to like home turf, putting up a clean sheet against the NVSC Jr. Majestics 3-0 and get back to even for the season.

September 27th, 2009 - Our ladies get back to winning ways at their opening home match, blanking the Stafford Revolution 2-0 and put one in the win column for the regular season.

September 26th, 2009 - A trip to Arlington to play the the Intensity Red leaves our ladies wanting more offense after the opposition puts up four in a 1-4 loss for GSC.

September 13th, 2009 - Sporting new uniforms, a new name and a new lineup, the Elite Ladies traveled to Marshall, VA to play the Fauquier Soccer Club's Xplosion, only to come away a goal short in a 2-3 decision

August 29th & 30th, 2009 - Participating in the second annual Dulles Tournament at Braddock Park in Centreville, the Elite prepare for the fall WAGS season by finishing strong 2nd place in the five team bracket team, showing some quality offense and defense throughout the four game tourney.
